The Inspiration “In upheaval, there is comfort in the distant past. Protective talismans for health and connection to the ancestors are crucial for navigating these times. Intentional adornment adds a depth and richness to daily life akin to ritual. My work is an amalgam of inspirations: personal studies, travels, ancient artifacts, and a connection with the natural world. I am striving to create objects that can be worn and loved by you, and then someday, by those that loved you when they want to recall your essence. In this way jewelry transcends time, which is something I am very much intrigued by.“

The Process Gina uses a variety of traditional jewelry making techniques in her studio to handcraft pieces, including fabrication, gemstone setting, and lost wax carving. With warm gold, mixed metals, ancient artifacts, and opulent gemstones she creates wearable treasures. Objects of symbolism and devotion that can be worn daily for talismanic effect.

2020 - A study of light through darkness
"My attraction to ancient and medieval art at its core stems from the very human desire
to leave something glorious behind. Although the historical focus of my pieces began
long before this year, in 2020 I allowed my work to involve more overt themes of mortality,
protection, and devotion. Parts of this collection are heavily inspired by Plague Art and other
human efforts to shield oneself and illuminate the darkest of times. It’s an exercise of hope
for the future to keep honoring beauty in an ugly world."
